Musically, I like most of their work from the 80s. I'm not as familiar with their music from other periods, which I will readily admit. They were groundbreaking in terms of their stage theatrics, as well as merchandising / marketing efforts which most bands are loathe to do (as though commercialism instantly reduces one's status as a serious artist). They (along with other deserving acts like Rush) really should have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame many years earlier, which completely discredits that organization as far as I'm concerned. KISS took risks musically, worked hard to give fans their money's worth in entertainment during live shows, and has kept up an excellent worth ethic over the years. Their music might not be the most sophisticated, yet they perform it well enough, and are honest enough to own up to the fact that they're a commercial band.

That's my $0.02 worth...

First album KISS ..Destroyer. Calling Dr. Love was first KISS song I heard on the radio. Song still rocks. Beth..one of my favs. Groundbreaking for a rock band...awesome song musically.

Although I like only a few songs from Kiss, their stage show alone is it worth seeing them.
